I spent today thinking about how I could enhance the Google Motion ads I’ve been creating. Most of the ads I’ve made in the past have the same transitions and effects. It’s become routine. I felt creatively stuck. So this time I tried a different route of creation. Chesbro’s is the brand I was focused on today. I’d already designed the spec ads and the assets were ready. The creative boundaries for the brand seemed looser than most of the businesses I’d done work for recently. So I felt confident that I had room to experiment with animated transitions more than usual. Through some trial and error, I took these ads from more subtle and corporate to loose and animated. I added not only opacity as I’d done in the past, but also squash and stretch and position changes to really exaggerate the motion. I’m really happy with the end result. It’s alleviated my creative rut and it’s crazy how the little things really add life to a brand!
